Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the 39th HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, being held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, successfully concluded on 5 March. As a Hong Kong local jewellery manufacturer, we valued the opportunity to participate in this top-notch exhibition, especially this jewellery show was the first major international jewellery trade fair in the city since the complete lifting of all COVID-19 restrictions.

This year’s Hong Kong International Jewellery Show featured 17 themed zones and gathered over 2,500 exhibitors from 36 countries and regions, bringing the world together to explore business opportunities and connect with all the jewellery industry’s sparkling elites in one place. As a jewellery wholesaler, we were glad to host an exceptional booth at the World of Glamour – an exclusive spotlight to showcase our latest collections and our exquisite and creative jewellery pieces to the public.
Following Hong Kong’s full resumption of normal travel – a big move for the city to return to normalcy – the jewellery show had staged a strong comeback this year. Jewellery industry’s exhibitors and buyers from across the globe flocked to the city’s major international trade event. The five-day fair attracted over 60,000 buyers from 130 countries and regions, with a significant increase in participation from Mainland China and the Asia region.

Last three years, the COVID-19 pandemic had been a nightmare for the entire world. Our world had paused and every person and organisation, from major global corporations to small businesses, had been hit hard. It had led to a string of most large-scale events, including international trade fairs, being called off across the world. As a B2B company, we lost big stages to unveil our latest products. Understanding the heavy impact, we realized we had to be dynamic and stay ahead of the threats posed by the challenges we were facing. In the midst of the pandemic, it was important to maintain strong connections with our customers and put customers at the heart of our business.
We focused on creating an online website with extensive product catalogues for our customers, delivering an exceptional customer experience. However, exploring new markets or new business opportunities remained difficult and face-to-face encounters were inevitable for our bespoke jewellery service. We were extremely happy to see the return of physical international jewellery exhibitions in the city.

After the revocation of the mandatory mask mandate, we rediscovered the irreplaceable moments of joy and intimacy of connecting with people face-to-face again. We showed our happy smiling faces as a warm welcome to all overseas buyers. This year we were delighted to see the overwhelming and vibrant atmosphere, and busy traffic at the fairground, reflecting a bright and positive outlook for the global jewellery market. Most of the buyers were positive with recovering purchasing power. Looking ahead, we are confident of satisfactory business growth in the coming year.
The pandemic inspired us to take initiative to go above and beyond to shape a better world and we embarked on our sustainability journey. Thank you, Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), for organising the Seminar on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) for a Brighter Future of the Gem and Jewellery Industry and delivering the latest industry trends and news. We took part in the seminar and gained perceptive insights on maintaining sustainability and competitiveness in the industry. We are ready to take further steps towards our goal of being a sustainable and ethical jeweller.
Hong Kong International Jewellery Show marked a successful start of the year and injected greater vitality into the industry – reaffirming the city as the world’s premier trading hub for jewellery. Let’s give a round of applause to all of us here!
